My Great Grandfather wrote this book. This was my inspiration for reading it. I'm proud of my family history and wanted to see what Great Grandpa had to say. This said, I'll try to be unbiased in my review. Frankly, I hate the title. I think it is reflective of a time when we knew and understood too little of Islam and it can be offensive. I was nervous about reading the book because of this. However, there is very little rationale for comparison to Islam in the text and that which is used tends to be narrow in its perspective. From my open investigation, Islam has nothing in common with Mormonism. Very little of the book is centered on comparing the two. If you are looking for information on Islam, DO NOT purchase this book. To those who are Muslim, my apologies. Please forgive if this hurt you in any way.
If you are looking for information on Mormonism, you may find this an interesting look. Keep in mind that it was written a long time ago. This provides an interesting perspective in and of itself. There is a great deal in this text on the original foundations of Mormonism and the relationships amongst its founders. It provides a concerning report on its roots as a scam and not rooted in Christ's teachings. The information is sited, and if you are curiously driven you could continue your research. I would not, however, use this book as your sole study on Mormonism. I have since heard of other sources that may offer a more in depth perspective. Certainly, with the news that has hit the media over the past years, this book would make for an interesting addition to any other research you are doing. I would caution that one can tell by the literary style that it is written from a very passionate place. If you are looking for a clean scholarly perspective, you will need to filter a bit to highlight the facts that are suggested. If you are Mormon, and defensive, you won't like this book. This said, I doubt there are criticisms here that you haven't heard before. I would encourage you to read with an open mind and wonder what if? I give this book 4 stars because I think its worth consideration with an open mind.
I purchased the book after hearing Glenn Beck tout the praises of Mormonism. I wanted - no I needed - to know more.
As I read I began to realize that Mormonism is not all that Mr. Beck would have us believe. Mormonism is not just another religion within Christianity - the two are polar opposites of each other. The similarities between Islam and Mormonism are obvious.
This book will open the eyes of the sincere seeker of truth and will show the differences between Mormonism, Islam and Christianity. I challenge all to read the very informative book.
This was a very good book and I mailed it to a friend of mine. She read it and now she is giving it to a friend of hers to read. Very insightful book. The author foresaw the dangers of mormonism. The mormon church seeks to dominate the world and bring it under a mormon theocracy. He goes over all of their beliefs and their covenants and doctrines etc. how they came to be etc.
As christians we are told to be "wise as serpents and meek as doves". We are also told not to be unaware of the schemes of the enemy, satan. Good book and I highly recommend it to all christians seeking information and truth.
